Sector Commanders Forum (SCF) Chairman Air Vice Marshal (retd) AKKhondokar Bir Uttam yesterday called upon the people to remain alert and united so that no war criminal can get into the parliament because they are not friends of the nation. He demanded that government take the help of the United Nations for trial of war criminals. He referred to countries like Germany, Kosovo and Cambodia in this regard. He was speaking at a freedom fighters meeting at Shaheed Satu Hall in Chapainawabganj. Khondokar said, if any party makes an alliance with war criminals and nominate them in the coming national election, SCF and all freedom fighters will stand against them. He said trial of war criminals should be started right now and UN should be involved in the process. With Chapainawabganj unit of Muktijoddha Sangsad Md. Alauddin in the chair, the meeting was also addressed by, among others, SCF leaders Lt. Gen. (retd) Harunur Rashid Bir Bikram Maj. Gen. (retd) KM Shafiullah Bir Uttam, Maj. Gen. (retd) CR Datt Bir Uttam, Lt. Col (retd) Abu Osman Chowdhury Bir Uttam, Maj. Gen. Masudur Rahman Bir Protik, Col. Shamsul Alam, DIG Shafique Ullah and journalist Harun Habib. The speakers said war criminals should be declared ineligible for the parliamentary election and called for boycotting them socially and politically. War criminals should be tried for the sake of democracy, peace and harmony in society. The SCF leaders urged all, the youths in particular, to continue their campaign against war criminals in every village and town in the country.
