Acid victim gets help

A generous woman has donated Tk 10,000 for an acid attack victim day labourer in Nandail upazila.
Rezina Naser Synthia, Managing Director of Universal Labels Ltd in Dhaka, donated the money through her representative M Nasir Uddin Khan, Managing Director of Tricom Foods Ltd in Mymensingh, at a simple ceremony at Mymensingh Press Club Saturday evening.
The noble gesture followed a Daily Star report on the October 1 acid attack incident.
Motiur Rahman, a day labourer at village Rasulpur in Nandail upazila, became the victim for his failure to pay Tk 1400, which he owed to money-lenders.
Motiur told this correspondent that the accused in the case filed for acid throwing are threatening him with dire consequences if the case is not withdrawn.
When contacted, Nandail Police Station officer-in-charge said they are trying to arrest the culprits.
