War criminals have no right to go to parliament
Magura JSD leaders say at meeting
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) yesterday declared here that the war criminals and anti-liberation forces have no right to go to parliament and urged people to boycott them in the upcoming general election.
JSD leaders said this while addressing a meeting at its district unit office here to mark the 36th founding anniversary of the party. Mian Nasimuzzaman Minu chaired the meeting.
Speakers said the war criminals should be officially declared ineligible for contesting election and people should boycott them socially and politically because they (war criminals) are not friends of people.
They called upon the party workers and people alike to remain alert and united so that no war criminal can go to parliament.
Demanding trial of war criminals, JSD leaders said they should be tried for the sake of democracy, communal harmony and for upholding the spirit of liberation war. 'Bangladesh was liberated in a bloody war but the anti-liberation forces do not believe in the spirit of liberation war,' they said. By denying liberation war, they are denying country's constitution and sovereignty, they said.
'If we want their punishment we should resist them from going to parliament and therefore we also should launch a vigorous campaign against war criminals', they said.
While narrating the tyranny of communal and anti-liberation forces, JSD leaders said the evil forces are engaged in hatching a deep-rooted conspiracy to destroy the culture and heritage of the country as well as achievement of the nation. 'The anti-liberation forces destroyed the Baul sculptures in Dhaka as part of their blueprint', they claimed.
Fundamentalist forces are now out to kill the freedom fighters and damage the Bengali heritage and culture, speakers said. They urged the pro-liberation forces to remain alert against their misdeeds.
Among others, ATM Mohabbat Hossain, Mian Majedur Rahman, Quazi Zinnatunnur, Abul Kalam Azad, Bashaul Haidar Bachchu and Abdul Mannan addressed.
