Our Correspondent, Barisal
Classes were suspended at Barisal Government B M College for four days till Tuesday following a clash between activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) supported by Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) yesterday. Two JCD activists and two BCL activists were injured. When contacted, Principal Prof Dr Sirajuddin Ahmed said the decision was taken at a meeting of the college academic council. However, college hostels will remain open under police protection, he said. In reply to another query, the principal said no inquiry committee will be formed by the college authorities as the incident happened in presence of police and members of law enforcement agencies. Barisal Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner (AC) Hayatul Islam told The Daily Star the situation is totally under control. A large contingent of police and members of law enforcement agencies consisting of over 500 personnel has been deployed on the campus.
