32 rescued from traffickers

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) rescued 32 people at Paschim Bakchar of Alatuli union in Sadar upazila while being trafficked to India Saturday night. BDR rescued them conducting a raid at an abandoned house at about 10:30 pm. Eighteen of them were men, 10 of them women and four others children, 39, Rifles Battalion Commanding Officer Golam Kibria Mohammad Neyamotullah said. Traffickers gave them false promises of lucrative jobs in Mumbai and Delhi, he said. Traffickers brought them here from different parts of Khulna, Jessore, Bagerhat and Narail districts for trafficking to India, BDR said. Later, they were handed over to police. However, none was arrested.
