EC finds no office of 6 parties in Barisal
The Barisal district office of the Election Commission (EC) has found offices of six parties in Barisal city non-existent.
Those parties are Biplobi Workers Party, Bangladesh Liberal Democratic Party, Forward Party, National Peoples Party, Bangladesh Peoples Party and Samajik Rajnoitik Andolan, EC sources said.
Meanwhile, a few parties hurriedly opened their offices and formed committees in the city before the investigation started.
Office of Jatiya Ganotantrik Party found at the residence of Md Rahim Howladar, vice president of the party on Shahparan Road of Kashipur on the outskirts of the city.
'Office' of the Oikkabaddho Nagorik Andolon was found at a mess used by the students of BM College in the city.
Signboard of NPP was set at a fruit shop.
Expressing ignorance about the party mentioned in the signboard, the shop owner said the place was earlier a motorcycle garage.
On October 27, EC officials started verifying the information sent from the EC headquarters and provided by the 14 parties with the EC for their registration, said sources at Barisal EC office.
Investigation into the information, provided by the 14 parties to the EC for their registration, was completed on Sunday and the report was sent to Dhaka on Monday, EC officials said.
