Tourism is a multi-dimensional industry that has been recognised all over the world as a rapidly expanding commercial activity. It has been given priority in our national industrial policy introduced in 2005. The position of Bangladesh in tourism development is still at a primary level. compared to the tourism industries of the developed countries. But there is a vast potentiality of tourism in Bangladesh. Our invaluable archaeological sites, heritage with tradition and civilization and eye-catching natural beauty spots contribute to enriching our tourism sector. We are especially proud of Cox's Bazar sea beach and the Sundarbans. The importance of the tourism industry cannot be overemphasized. As the tourism industry helps social development, economic growth, preservation of culture and heritage and conservation of nature, it is high time to concentrate on its sustainable development.
