Sources of power generation

From various reports and comments it is clear that nuclear generation of power is not a safe option for our country. This leaves natural gas or coal as only available prime fossil fuel sources (not requiring import from abroad), which although polluting can nevertheless be used with refinements. However, the supply of these fuels are also not unlimited and in a few years they would also run out. Solar panels, or other uses of solar energy and wind turbine technology are as yet incapable of providing the power necessary for the development of the nation as a whole, however, these may be suitable for providing the domestic needs of blocks of flats and much research and investments are required in this direction. Another way forward may be to use hydro electric power in conjunction with countries like Nepal, India, Bhutan etc., forming international companies which will sell the power output fairly and proportionally to the region. But it requires great political will. It may be possible to collect rain or river water and form several such projects within the region. In addition use of tidal energy in Bangladesh coasts and rivers needs research for power generation like wave energy. Lastly, to reduce dependency on scanty resources, the trend of population increase must be reversed as a matter of top priority by the policy makers.
