Here's yet another episode of senseless carnage inflicted on an unsuspecting public.
It was heartbreaking and infuriating all at the same time. What on earth are these youngsters on a killing spree thinking ? That they are going to heaven and will reside in a land of plenty ?
The Muslim world and most certainly the Indian Muslims need to strongly condemn terrorism globally. We have allowed our religion to be hijacked by these radicals and are doing absolutely nothing about it.
I think Islamic scholars need to re-educate our mullahs. For starters they must be proficient in the Arabic language or at least they need to read the Holy Quran in a language they understand and interpret it correctly. Madrasas should alter their curriculum to include subjects like maths and science as well. There should be a committee keeping an eye on what is being taught there worldwide just like other educational systems with a set curriculum do.
I am mortally afraid of the repercussions of the Mumbai blasts on the lives of the Indian Muslims. Will our fellow citizens believe us when we say we do not support terrorism and that we are as patriotic as the man next door? Terrorists have no ideology, they are simply murderers who are using Islam as an excuse to exercise their sick motives and quench their thirst for blood. If this leads to communal tensions and hatred and possibly war then these terrorists have won because this is just what they want.
