433 polling centres risky in Kurigram
In the upcoming national election 433 out of 662 polling centres in all nine upazilas of Kurigram district have been marked as risky.
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) office sources, the district security branch (DSB) has identified 433 "vulnerable" polling centres in all four constituencies under Kurigram district where 662 polling centres have been fixed.
The number of upazila-wise risky polling centres are 47 of 90 centres in Bhurungamari, 95 out of 125 in Nageswari, 17 out of 39 in Fulbari, 35 out of 87 centres in Sadar, 44 out of 59 in Rajarhat, 99 out of 140 in Ulipur, 30 out of 41 centres in Chilmari, 41 out of 53 in Raumari and 25 out of 28 centres in Rajibpur.
The DSB sources said, distance of the centre from upazila headquarters, proximity of polling centre with candidates' house and remote and Char areas were the mentionable criteria for measuring vulnerability.
To ensure foolproof security in the risky centres Ansar, patrol police and reserve force will be deployed, the sources said.
