Half of polling centres 'risky' in Mymensingh

As many as 565 polling centres, nearly half of the 1,133 polling centres in all 11 constituencies under the district, have been identified as 'risky'. According to police sources, the risky centres include 56 out of a total 115 centres in Mymensingh-1 (Haluaghat-Dhubaura), 60 out of 130 in Mymensingh-2 (Phulpur), 58 out of 115 in Mymensingh-3 (Gouripur), 70 out of 106 in Mymensingh-4 (Sadar), 58 out of 89 in Mymensingh-5 (Muktagachha), 29 out of 103 in Mymensingh-6 (Phulbaria), 50 out of 102 in Mymensingh-7 (Trishal), 28 out of 85 in Mymensingh-8 (Ishwarganj), 55 out of 102 in Mymensingh-9 (Nandail), 70 out of 106 in Mymensingh-10 (Gafargoan) and 31 out of 80 in Mymensingh-11 (Bhaluka). Effective measures will be taken to hold the election in a free and fair manner in all the polling centres including the ones identified as risky, police officials said. Training of presiding officers, assistant presiding officers and polling officers is already complete, District Election Office sources said.
