Saifur happy with voting atmosphere, process

CPB nominee in Moulvibazar-3 could not cast vote

Voting in four constituencies in Moulvibazar was held peacefully and the number of vote cast was very good, observers said. BNP led 4-party nominee in Moulvibazar-3 (Sadar and Rajnagar) M Saifur Rahman cast his votes at Baharmordan Primary School polling station. After casting vote, Saifur Rahman told this correspondent that he was happy with the voting arrangements and the overall peaceful atmosphere. He hoped, if election engineering does not take place, victory of any party or alliance will bring back democracy. Former state minister and 4-party nominee in Moulvibaszar-1 (Baralekha and Juri) Ebadur Rahman Chawdhury cast his votes at Gangkul Primary School centre in Borolekha upazila. He also expressed satisfaction over the peaceful voting. Former Chief Whip of the opposition in parliament and grand alliance nominee in Moulvibazar-4 (Srimongal and 5 unions of Kamalganj) Abdus Shahid cast his votes at Shiddheswarpur Primary School centre under Kamalganj upazila. At Chunghar Primary School center in Kulaura upazila under Moulvibazar-2 constituency, more than 100 voters could not cast their votes as their names were not found in the voter list. All of them had National Identity Cards. CPB nominee in Moulvibazar-3 (Sadar and Rajnagar) Syed Abu Zafar Ahmed could not cast his vote as the voter list bearing his name was not supplied to the presiding officer. In the afternoon, the district election office supplied the voter list, but as Abu Zafar was in another polling center seeing voting situation, he missed the chance to cast his vote.
