6 Rajshahi grand alliance MPs pledge to fight corruption
All the six MPs-elect of the grand alliance in Rajshahi yesterday pledged that they will play more active roles against corruption.
Earlier, led by Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, they placed wreaths at the grave of national leader AHM Quamruzzaman at Kadirganag graveyard in the city.
They then placed wreaths at the central Shaheed Minar in the city and at a solemn and brief function pledged to uphold the spirit of the Liberation War and fulfill their promises given to people of their areas.
Speaking briefly, RCC Mayor Liton congratulated the new MPs and told several hundred leaders and activists of grand alliance components that corrupt political leaders, war criminal, terrorist and militancy abettors will be punished.
He termed grand alliance's victory as a victory over misrule, corruption and militancy.
At the meeting, Worker's Party's Politburo member Fazle Hossain Badsha elect from Rajshahi-2 termed his victory as a victory of the sprit of Liberation War against anti-liberation forces.
Meraj Uddin Mollah, elect in Rajshahi-3, said he will play a more active role against corruption.
Engineer Enamul Haque, elect in Rajshhai-4, said he will fulfill his promises given to people of his area and take initiative for education and employment.
Kazi Abdul Wadud Dara, elect in Rajshahi-5, he termed his victory as a victory of the masses and said he will work for their welfare.
Shahriar Alam, elect from Rajshahi-6, sacrificed his victory to freedom fighters and people martyred in 1971.
He also congratulates new voters for rejecting BNP-Jamaat through ballot.
Omar Faruk Chowdhury, elected from Rajshahi-1 said he will play active role against corruption and fulfill his promises given to people.
