'Take one in cabinet from Satkhira'

Leaders of People's Movement for Satkhira Development (PMSD), a civic body formed by local people, at a press conference yesterday demanded that Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina include one of the four lawmakers elected from the four constituencies in the district in her new cabinet to speed up overall development of 'neglected' Satkhira. People of Satkhira elected all the four grand alliance candidates responding to Sheikh Hasina's election manifesto 'charter of change' and also with a hope that the fate of the people of Satkhira would be changed,” they said. They urged the government to allocate 20 percent revenue earning from the district for the development of the district. Hafizur Rahman Masum an executive member of PMSD read out the written statement at the press conference held at Satkhira Press Club auditorium. Immediate past BNP-led four-party alliance government did little development work for Satkhira, he said. The other PMSD leaders also urged the Awami League president to include a minister in her new cabinet to represent the district for the welfare of 20 lakh people of Satkhira.
