Try war criminals with UN cooperation
RU teachers demand
Progressive Teachers' Society (PTS) of Rajshahi University (RU), in a statement issued in Rajshahi yesterday, demanded trial of war criminals with the help of the United Nations (UN).
Teachers expressed their optimism that the administration would contact the global organisation just after formation of a new cabinet to try war criminals in international tribunals.
In the statement, they congratulated general voters for rejecting war criminals through ballots in the ninth parliamentary election.
Teachers termed the victory of grand alliance as a verdict of common people against anti-liberation forces and war criminals including injustice, corruption, terrorism, militancy and misrule of last BNP-led four-party alliance government.
They hoped the next government of AL-led grand alliance would work for establishing democracy in the country and rule of law in society.
They also hoped the new government would take immediate steps to bring down prices of essentials and uproot corruption and militancy once for all from the country.
PTS convener Prof Dr Mozaffar Hossain signed the statement.
