Nilphamari pry edn official suspended

The assistant monitoring officer (AMO) of Nilphamari District Primary Education Office, Hasan Tarique, has been suspended from job for his alleged involvement in stealing and selling 73,676 primary textbooks meant for free distribution to students. Primary Education Directorate director general Md Nazrul Islam sent the official letter of his suspension through district primary education officer (DPEO) Fasiuddin Ahmed that reached here yesterday. Nilphamari Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nural Islam visited the DPEO store yesterday where the text books were stored. Earlier, the DPEO filed a case against the AMO on January 3. A high power inquiry team headed by the deputy director of primary education of Rajshahi division, A K M Golam Mostafa, also visited here yesterday for taking further departmental action. However, the suspended AMO has been absconding, the DPEO said. Mentionably, a truck- loaded with a large quantity of primary textbooks were sent to Jaldhaka departmental office from Nilphamari store on December 30, 2008. But the truck disappeared.
