Jubo League leader held for extortion

Police arrested Jubo League leader on Monday night from his residence at Dhulashar union in Kalapara upazila on charge of demanding toll from a construction firm. The arrestee, Kabir Hossain, 30, president of Dhulashar union unit of Jubo League, on January 1 demanded Tk 25,000 as toll from Abdur Rahman Suman, the contractor of a bridge on a local canal, police said. Suman filed a case against Kabir with Kalapara Police Station in this regard. Kabir was sent to the local Judicial Magistrate's Court yesterday and the court sent him to jail.
