BNP leader's jute godown gutted

Two thousand maunds of jute worth about Tk 16 lakh were gutted in a big fire at a godown of Ismail Hossain, a local BNP leader at Hijolbaria village in Gangni upazila Monday night. Being informed, fire fighters from Meherpur Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and brought fire under control. When contacted with new BNP lawmaker Amjad Hossain, elected from Meherpur-2 (Gangni) constituency, he said a gang of miscreants belonging to a rival political party is responsible for the incident. But Gangni Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) said the fire incident might have occurred due to previous enmity with Ismail.
