Steps on way to cut fertiliser prices
Khandaker says in Pabna
Planning Minister Air Vice Marshal (retd) AK Khandaker yesterday said the government has taken initiatives to reduce prices of diesel and fertiliser to boost agriculture sector.
He was addressing a reception accorded to him at Nagarbari in Bera upazila on Saturday. It was organized by Bera upazila Awami League.
Khandaker elected from Pabna-2 (Sujanagar-Bera upazila) constituency, visited the area for the first time after becoming minister.
Other speakers at the meeting placed several demands including resumption of Ishwardi-Nagarbari railway service, ensuring navigability in Padma in the area and steps for checking erosion by the river.
“I am committed to work sincerely for the people”, Khandakar said,
He also stressed the need for expanding pipeline supply of gas to help set up industries in the district.
AK Khandaker also addressed in a view-exchange meeting held at Sujanagar upazila auditorium yesterday afternoon, organised by the local administration.
Lawmakers Samsul Haque Tuku from Pabna-1 and Md. Mokbul Hossain from of Pabna-3, and AL leaders Dr. Mokibar Rahman and Jahangir Kabir Rana also spoke.
