UZ polls runners vow to uphold child rights
All the candidates who are contesting upazila (UZ) elections for chairmanship and vice-chairmanship of Tangail Sadar upazila yesterday vowed to uphold child rights if they are elected.
They included female vice-chairman candidates also.
They took the vow at a pre-election dialogue held at Tangail Shaheed Minar between candidates and guardians of children.
Upama Shishu Parishad and Tangail Sadar upazila organised the dialogue in association with Upama Mohila Unnayan Protisthan, Society For Social Service (SSS) and Save The Children Australia.
Candidates vowed to work unitedly to build a child-friendly prosperous society.
They are pro-BNP candidates Ali Imam Tapan Mohammad Shah Alam and Mahmudul Haque Alo, Jatiya Party (Ershad)-supported candidate Advocate Abdus Salam Chakladar, pro-Awami League-supported Faruque Hossain Manik and female vice-chairman candidates Nasrin Jahan Khan and Latifa Nasrin Merry.
