1,114 polling centres 'risky' in Barisal div, Magura dist

About 1,114 polling centres have been marked risky in six districts of Barisal division and Magura district, official sources said. At least 1,014 out of 2,028 polling centers are risky in Barisal division, reports our Barisal Correspondent. Of those, 302 centers are of Barisal district, 121 are of Patuakhali district, 203 are of Bhola district, 133 are of Pirojpur district, 136 are of Barguna district and 119 are of Jhalakati district, they said More than 30,000 members of law enforcement agencies have been deployed in the entire division for conducting elections in 40 upazilas. As many as 2,028 presiding officers for 2,028 polling centers, 10,832 assistant presiding and 21,664 polling officers for 10,832 polling booths will be engaged to conduct election smoothly, said Manirul Islam, deputy election commissioner-in-charge of Barisal division. Our Magura Correspondent reports: One hundred out of 266 polling centres have been identified risky in four upazilas of the district, police sources said. Of the centres, 28 are of Magura Sadar upazila, 20 of Sreepur upazila, 26 of Shalikha upazila and 26 of Mohammadpur upazila, they said. District police will give top priority to ensure foolproof security and maintain law and order in all the polling centres during and after upazila elections.
