Election 2008

Md Abdur Rahman, South Bijoypur, Gournadi, Barisal
The 9th parliamentary election has been held peacefully. National and international communities have described the election as free and fair. A survey conducted by International Republican Institute (IRI) has shown that 99 per cent of the voters believe that the 29th December election was free and fair. The Election Commission has been praised by all the quarters for the job it had done successfully. The Commission as well as the commissioners were again busy with their new mission-- the upazila election. Arranging election is the constitutional duty of the Election Commission. However, its success always depends on how the people and parties concerned deal with the issue.
