Two BCL men arrested on extortion charge

Police have arrested two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Khulna city unit at Barho Bazar on charge of demanding toll from a businessman. They are Rinku, 28, and Kishore, 23. According to police, the BCL activists along with two others demanded Tk one lakh from edible oil trader Shamim Molla of Moilapota under Khulna Sadar Police Station on January 19. Shamim lodged an FIR (first information report) with the police station concerned on January 20. Police recorded the FIR under the amended section of the Speedy Trial Act, 2007 and arrested Rinko and Kishore on Wednesday night. Two other accused--Alexander and Tapan--are still at large, police said.
