Tk 8cr low quality fertliser seized at Nagarbari

Agriculture officials yesterday seized substandard fertiliser worth about Tk 8 crore from five vessels at Nagarbari ghat, official sources said. The vessels carried about 2,660 tonnes of substandard TSP fertiliser from Chittagong. A godown containing 5,620 bags of fertiliser was sealed off at the ghat, said Bera upazila agriculture officer Md Jalal Uddin. “When the fertiliser was being loaded at Chittagong port, departmental officials ordered to seize the same at Nagarbari because of its inferiority", he said. 'Desh Trading' imported it from China, officials said. Bera police is now on alert at Nagarbari, police said. Nagarbari is one of the largest fertiliser markets in the northern region. Most of fertilisers are supplied to northern districts through this port.
