Case against Biswas:8 witnesses examined

Eight witnesses of a sensational case lodged against Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas and others gave their statements before Judicial Magistrate Court here in three phases on February 16, 19 and 22. District Election Officer-1 Nitish Chandra Dey filed the case on January 22 against Biswas, his daughter Soma Biswas and several Awami League (AL) leaders on charge of violating election code of conduct during last upazila election. Judicial Magistrate Siraj Uddin Iqbal recorded their statements. The eight witnesses are Deputy Commissioner Humayun Kabir, Superintendent of Police Alamgir Rahman, District Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abdul Quayum, Assistant Returning Officer and Belkuchi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nasir Uddin, Belkuchi Upazila Election Officer Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, Presiding Officer Abul Hossain, Belkuchi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Arman Hossain and Presiding Officer Masud Karim. However, their statements could not be known immediately.
