Charge-framing of 15 JMB cadres deferred

Fourteen out of 15 militants of banned Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), arrested in connection with serial bomb blasts case in the district headquarters on august 17, 2005, were produced before the District and Sessions Judge's Court here yesterday to frame charges against them. The court deferred the charge-framing to April 27 as police could not produce one of the accused, Mohammad Enayet Ali, in the court from Kashimpur Jail in Joydevpur. After the bomb blasts on Khagrachhari court premises and Shapla Chattar on August 17, 2005, police issued arrest warrants against 18 JMB men including the outfit's kingpins Abdur Rahman and Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai. Of them, Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai were executed in judges' murder case on March 30, 2007 while another accused, Mohammad Belal, has been absconding since the incident. Those produced before the court are Mohammad Ariful Islam, Md Shahidul Islam, Md Emdadul Haq, Md Faruk Hossen, Md Ruhul Amin, Hafez Mohammad Hasan Al Mamun, Md Asaduzzaman, Karim Ali, Ismail Hossen Jamadar, Mohammad Ershad, Md Monju Mia, Ruhul Amin Sufi, Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad and Mohammad Abu Jar. The law enforcers arrested the JMB militants from different areas of the hill districts after the serial blasts.
