Contractor, Jubo Dal man sued

Owner of a construction firm and a Jubo Dal cadre have been sued for assaulting an engineer of Barisal Sadar upazila local government engineering department. The accused are Syed Mahabub Hossain, owner of Messrs Mahbub Traders and brother-in-law of BNP lawmaker and former BCC mayor Mojibor Rahman Sarwar, and Jubo Dal cadre Asaduzzaman Mona. The victim, Fulkam Badsha, filed the case with Kotwali Police Station yesterday under Speedy Trial Act. In the case, the engineer alleged that the accused are constructing a road and culvert by using sub-standard material and violating terms and condition of work orders. He further alleged that the accused became furious and beat him up after a LGED inspection team on Monday issued a letter, asking them to complete the construction works as per terms and condition mentioned in the work orders. Mohammad Shahnewaz, executive engineer of Barisal LGED, acknowledged the incident.
