Prof Bari new RU registrar

Prof MA Bari of Islamic history and culture department has been appointed registrar of Rajshahi University (RU). Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan, who was appointed by the chancellor of the university on February 24, made Prof Bari registrar of the university yesterday. On Sunday, RU acting registrar Prof Muhammad Shafi having alleged links with BNP-Jamaat resigned. Earlier, different student organisations at RU demanded Prof Shafi's resignation as he filed cases against several hundred general students in connection with the August 22, 2008 violence on the campus.
