18 houses gutted in Ctg

Eighteen dwelling houses were gutted in Bakolia area in Chittagong city yesterday morning. Originating from short-circuit, the fire broke out at a thatched house owned by Mohammad Alamgir on DC Road at about 9.40am. Soon it engulfed 17 nearby houses. The loss has been estimated at Tk 3.5 lakh. Four fire fighting units from nearby fire stations rushed to the spot and extinguished fire after one hour.
