Rangpur unit of Muktijuddha Chetona Parishad yesterday formed a human chain in front of local press club demanding exemplary punishment to those involved in Pilkhana carnage. Leaders and activists of different political and socio-cultural organisations took part in the human chain that continued for an hour in the morning. This was followed by a meeting where speakers termed the killing as a conspiracy against democracy and sovereignty of the country. They urged leaders of all political parties not to make any adverse comment. It was part of a conspiracy by the vested quarters who wanted to destabilise the country by engaging army and BDR in a war-like situation, they said, adding that people want to see the killers punished. Among others, Muktijuddha Chetona Parishad convener Mohammad Afzal, secretary of Ekatturer Ghatok Dalal Nirmul Committee Dr Mafizul Islam Montu, president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Dr Ekramul Haque Swapan, president of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote Kazi Mohammad Junnun, vice-chairman of Sadar Upazila Parshad Masud Karim Munna, Sadrul Alam Dulu, Azizul Islam and Goutom Roy addressed.
