RMC, Rajshahi College closed indefinitely
Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) and Rajshahi Government College were yesterday declared closed for an indefinite period after clashes at Rajshahi University between Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) that left one killed and 100 others injured.
Sources said, RMC academic council yesterday held an emergency meeting in college principal's room and suspended all academic activities indefinitely.
The students were asked to vacate their dormitories by 5:00pm yesterday.
Rajshahi Government College authorities also closed the college for an indefinite period.
The authorities asked the male students to vacate their dormitories by 5:00pm yesterday and the female students by 10:00am today.
Meanwhile, the injured BCL activists of RU left Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) and took shelter at private clinics fearing fresh Shibir attack on them at the hospital.
Kamol, an injured BCL activist told newsman that police asked them to leave the RMCH as Shibir men may launch attack on them any time.
Sources said some Shibir activists severely beat up some RU general students who have close links with BCL leaders and activists.
