Fugitive held with firearms in Chittagong

Police arrested a fugitive with three firearms in the city's South Halishahar area early yesterday. The arrestee, Mohammad Faruk, 30, son of Abdus Samad of Shariatpur, is an accused in a robbery case filed with Chandgaon Police Station. The law enforcers from Kotwali Police Station, led by Kotwali Zone Assistant Commissioner Babul Akhter, raided Mottabbar Ali's house at Taltala in South Halishahar area at around 1.30am and arrested Faruk. Following Faruk's confessional statement, police recovered three country-made guns from his possession. During interrogation, Faruk confessed to his involved in several criminal activities in the district, police said.
