Abdul Maleq, principal of BLP Degree College who faces allegation of corruption yesterday put all the rooms of the college under lock and key and allegedly went into hiding. Meanwhile, many students had to go back home without filling forms for Degree examination yesterday, the last day for submitting them. This correspondent saw at about 12 noon yesterday that teachers, students and employees are waiting outside the locked main gate of the college. " The principal locked the college so that we can not enter the college", alleged Mainul, a teacher. "He is on the run as we filed a fresh case against him alleging attack on us on Saturday," he added. Tahmina, a student of Degree class said, "I came at 10:00 am to fill up form of my Degree exam but failed as the college is locked." "Today is the last day of filling the form," she said. “My Degree exam is now uncertain,: she added, with a heavy heart. Like Tahmina, many students yesterday returned home as they could not fill up their forms of Degree exam. Earlier, 10 teachers of the college under Sadar upazila were injured on Saturday as some goons allegedly hired by the principal swooped on them. Protesting the incident, students ransacked classrooms and damaged doors and windows of the college. Days ago, all 64 teachers of the college filed a written complaint with the governing body chief and deputy commissioner (DC) of Patuakhali and local education ministry authority against principal Maleq alleging corruption like cash looting and other irregularities.
