Youth gets life for killing mother

A youth was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday for killing his mother at Ramchandrapur College Para village under Sadar upazila in Chapainawabganj. District and Sessions Judge of Chapainawabganj Hrishikesh Saha handed down the verdict in presence of convict Abdur Rahim alias Harun, 30. According to the prosecution story, addict Abdur Rahim demanded money from his mother Rebina Begum,50, to buy drugs on August,14, 2006. As his mother refused to pay, he became angry and locked in an altercation. At one stage he stabbed Rebina with a knife. Then the convict also tried to commit suicide with the same knife. Locals rushed Rebina to hospital where the doctor declared her dead. Father Tazemul Haque later lodged a murder case against Harun with the Sadar police station.
