<i>Patient suffers for doctor's neglect</i>

A mother is fighting for life at Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital due to alleged negligence of a doctor at a private clinic here. Morjina Begum,25, wife of Babul at Rahimanpur village under Sadar upazila gave birth to a baby son at Shusri Clinic here about six months ago after a caesarian operation, said her husband. Dr Hamidur Rahman, a physician operated upon her at the clinic. Since operation Morjina had been suffering from various complications including that of abdomen. Babul said when he contacted Dr Hamidur several times, he assured him that the problem will ease gradually. Finally, Morjina was again admitted to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital on Saturday with a complain of severe pain at her abdomen. Gynecologist department consultant Dr Khurshid Jahan Haque and surgery consultant Dr Partha Sarothy Roy reopened her belly at sadar hospital Sunday morning and found a piece of gauze and cotton inside. Contacted, both Dr Khursid Jahan and Dr Partha Sarothy confirmed the incident. But Dr Hamidur could not be contacted for comments because he was out of the town. His family members said he is undergoing treatment in Dhaka.
