<i>Shibir gives booklets to RU teachers in police presence</i>

Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) activists yesterday again entered the Rajshahi University (RU) campus and distributed booklets among the teachers. Witnesses said Shibir activists went to different departments and teachers' rooms and gave them a 16-page booklet in presence of the police. Shibir's central unit published a 16-page booklet with photos of BCL men carrying arms at different educational institutions. Many teachers alleged that Shibir cadres are trying to create panic among the teachers and students by distributing leaflets and booklets. They also criticised the university proctor and police administration for not taking any action against the Shibir men. They demanded immediate arrest of the Shibir cadres who are trying to create panic among the teachers and employees. Proctor Prof Zakaria told newsman that they would investigate the matter and take necessary measures. Police high officials yesterday met the RU authorities and discussed the campus situation. Earlier on Tuesday, Shibir activists along with outsiders staged a big showdown on the RU campus and distributed leaflets among the teachers, officials and employees. In the leaflets, the held RU authorities and BCL men responsible for the killing of their leader Sharifuzzaman Nomani on the campus on March 13. They urged the general students to resist the BCL cadres at educational institutions.
