Trawler Capsize

Six more bodies recovered

With the recovery of six more bodies yesterday, the death toll from Tuesday's trawler capsize in the Sugandha under Baruganj upazila of Barisal rose to nine. The dead are Sumi Akter, 26, wife of Alamgir Hossain Tulu and their son Sejan,5, of Bakhsirchar, Rina Begum,35, wife of Selim Howladar, Chandravan,35, wife of Md Ershad of Khanpura, Runu Begum, 40, wife of UP member Ashraf Ali, Salema Khatun, 50,wife of Khadem Ali Gharami of Khudrakati, Rabeya, 8, daughter of Abdur Razzakl Molla of Khudrakati under Babuganj upazila of Barisal, Mamataj Beguim, 27, wife of Abdur Razzak and Jyotsna Begum, 30,of Kawnia Haragacha under Rangpur. The trawler with about 25 on board was caught in a storm and sank in the river near Rahmatpur under Babuganj upazila. Half of the passengers managed to swam ashore, while the rest went missing. Divers and fire Brigade personnel recovered three bodies on Tuesday night and six bodies yesterday. The rest four or five passengers are still missing. The sunken trawler was salvaged yesterday afternoon, but no body was found inside.
