4 killed in 3 districts
Four people were killed in separate incidents in Kushtia, Chuadanga and Meherpur on Monday and Tuesday.
Farmer Alfaz Hossain, 47, was killed in a bomb attack at Bagadi village while rival party men slaughtered Atiar Rahman, 39, a top cadre of the outlawed Lal Pataka, at Bhangbaria in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga Tuesday.
According to police, a gang of criminals stormed into the house of Alfaz at about 9.30:pm and hurled a bomb. He died on the spot.
Later, an unknown caller claiming to be a cadre of the outlawed Lal Pataka said he killed Alfaz as he refused to pay the extortion money they demanded several days ago.
In another incident, rival party men slaughtered outlawed Lal Pataka's top cadre Atiar.
According to police, a gang of 10 went to the house of Atiar at Sahapur village in Gangni upazila in Meherpur district at about 10:30 pm.
The gang picked up Atiar on gunpoint and took him to Bhangbaria field and killed him there.
In Kushtia, unknown criminals strangled a young woman after rape at village Bhadalia on Monday night, while stepbrothers murdered a young man at Asannagar in Sadar upazila on Tuesday.
Locals said, cadres of outlawed Gono Mukti Fouz (GMF) led by Sabdul picked up the girl from unknown place and confined at his house for several days. They gang raped her and later strangled her and threw the body to a nearby paddy field.
Step brothers led by Karam Ali chopped Nazim Uddin,25, on Tuesday morning following an altercation over a disputed land. Nazim died on the spot.
Police recovered the body and arrested Karam and his two sons Anis and Alamgir.
