Rajshahi Shibir giving booklets to schoolboys

Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) activists are now distributing leaflets and booklets among the schoolboys in the areas adjacent to Rajshahi University (RU). Witnesses said the Shibir activists, divided into five groups, went to Meherchandi, Budpara, Dasmari, Khojapur and Kajla areas yesterday and distributed leaflets and booklets among the students. They urged the schoolboys to take a firm stand against BCL activities at their institutions and also persuaded them to join Islami Chhatra Shibir. Later, the Shibir men gathered in front of the main gate of the university school and college and trying to motivate the students about the activities of their organisation. Hearing the news, RU proctor and police rushed to the spot. But the Shibir activists fled the scene, sensing the presence of the law enforcers. The school students told police that Shibir activists tried to woo them to join their organisation. The RU authorities asked the principal of the university school and college to remain alert about Shibir activities on the premises of the institution. On March 24, a student of the school and college was caught red-handed while he was distributing Shibir's leaflets among the students. When contacted, Rabindra Nath Roy, chief of RU campus police unit, confirmed the news and said the plainclothes policemen have been deployed in front of all schools in the areas adjacent to the university. Shibir published a 16-page booklet and leaflet with photos of BCL men carrying arms at different educational institutions. Earlier on March 31, Shibir activists along with outsiders staged a big showdown on the RU campus and distributed leaflets and booklets among the teachers, students, officers and employees in presence of the police.
