Sylhet teachers agitate

Teachers and employees of 250 educational institutions of greater Sylhet region at a rally yesterday demanded inclusion of their institutions in the monthly pay order (MPO) list. Speakers at the rally held at Abdul Gafur Islami Adarsha High School ground at the city's Jalalabad area warned if the authorities did not make allocation for it in the new budget, they would have no other option but to go for tougher agitation. Over 2,000 teachers and other staff of about 250 high school, madrasa and colleges were pressing for their MPO for long. Although these institutions were given academic affiliations long ago, they are yet to be included in the MPO list, sources said.
