19 more sued for war crimes

Nineteen more alleged collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces have been sued for war crimes in 1971 in Natore and Patuakhali districts. Khodeja Begam, daughter of Martyred freedom fighter Alai Miah of Razibpur village under Sadar upazila, filed a petition case with the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court yesterday, according to a correspondent. The accused are former deputy leader of Muktijoddha Sangsad Natore district unit Nabiruddin Sarkar, Abdul Malek, Sheikh Alauddin, Ramzan Mollah, Ansar Ali, Abdur Razzak, Moksed, Amjad, Anis, Zahurul and Shahjahan Ali. In the case statement, the complainant said the accused stormed into their house on May 2, 1971 and picked up her father at gunpoint. They took him to Fotedanga Harishpur village and killed him, she alleged. After hearing, Magistrate Sarif Ahmed asked Natore Sadar Police Station to record the case as FIR (first information report). In Patuakhali, a case was filed with Dashmina Upazila Magistrate's Court yesterday against eight war criminals, reports our correspondent. Three of the accused--Lalu Pada, Jobbar Munshi and Gani Padaare still alive while the rest died. Shahabuddin Howlader of Betagi village under the upazila, filed the case, accusing the eight of looting their house and torturing the family members. The magistrate asked the officer-in-charge (OC) of Dashmina Police Station to submit a report before the court after proper investigation.
