Partymen attack AL MP's house
A group of unruly people attacked the house of lawmaker Abdul Hye (Jhenidah-1) as Chhatra League activists got divided into two feuding groups after two of their men teased a college girl on Saturday night.
Following a case filed with Jhneidah Sadar Police Station against 19 people on charge of attacking the house of Abdul Hye, also district Awami League (AL) president, police arrested Shariar Rahman, the main accused.
After Chhatra League activists Uzzal and Sunny teased a girl student of Government KC College on Saturday, agitation spread among their accomplices and those who opposed the evil act, police and party men said.
At around 10:00pm, a group led by Shariar Rahman, an earlier expelled leader of Chhatra League, attacked lawmaker Abdul Hye's house at Arappur village in the town and threw brickbats there.
They also beat up Chhatra League activist Rashed and vandalised three motorbikes in front of the house. At the time lawmaker Abdul Hye was in the house.
On information, Rab and police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Police have been deployed at different important places of the town including Jhenidah KC College.
Contacted, lawmaker Abdul Hye said those who attacked his house are criminals, not AL activists.
