Hospital interns on strike

Interns of Rangpur Medical College Hospital called an indefinite strike yesterday after outsiders belonging to Jubo League and Chhatra League injured ten interns including Dr Avijit Kumar, president of IDA Rangpur unit, and its former president Dr Imran Hosen. The injured are undergoing treatment. Jubo League and Chhatra League activists led by Lokkhin Chandra and Koel attacked the interns on the campus without any provocation, Dr Imran Hosen said. He said a pro-Awami League doctor of the hospital instigated the attack. Police reached the college campus at least one hour after the attackers left the campus, injured interns said. The attack by Jubo League and Chhatra League men aimed at imposing their domination over the college and hospital authorities, hospital sources said. Rangpur Medical College authorities lodged a general diary with Rangpur Kotwali police .
