60 hurt as rival villagers clash in B'baria
At least 60 people were injured, 25 of them seriously, as two groups of villagers clashed over fishing in a canal at Satirpar village under Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila yesterday morning
The trouble began at around 9:30am when the two rival groups--Ohid group and Julfu groupof the village went to the canal for fishing
Locals said the feuding groups used lethal weapons during the clash that lasted for three hours.
Law enforcers from Sadar Police Station rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The seriously injured are Juhura, 40, Fajilatunnesa, 33, Farida Khatun, 40, Minara Khatun, 35, Ohid Mia, 35, Sachchu Mia, 30, Lutfur Raman, 45, Nasir Mia, 35, Salim Mia, 40, Habju Mia, 30, Anu Mia, 22, Yunus Mia, 35, and Samim Mia, 20.
They were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
