Rivals kill another outlaw at IU
Another cadre of outlawed Gono Mukti Fouj (GMF) was killed by his rival party men on Islamic University (IU) campus after 11 days of the murder of two cadres of the outfit.
Police recovered the severed head of the outlaw near the main gate of the university yesterday morning. They, however, could not trace the remaining part of the body.
The dead was identified as Liton Hossain, 32, son of Ajibur Hossain of Goloknagar village under Sailkupa upazila of Jhenidah district.
Campus sources said security guards of the university found a polythene bag containing the severed head at the main gate and informed the IU Police Station. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the head.
The law enforcers also found a chit on the spot with cellphone number of one Lal of banned Gono Bahini (GB) that claimed the responsibility for killing the GMF cadre.
On the night of June 16, two GMF cadres were brutally murdered on the IU campus. Gono Bahini later claimed the responsibility for killing the two.
This correspondent also phoned the mobile number found in the chit and talked to Lal who introduced himself as regional leader of outlawed Gono Bahini and claimed responsibility for the murder.
“More killings will take place in the area,” GB leader Lal said.
Security has been beefed up on the campus while police patrol increased.
