2 Allar Dal men held, <i>jihadi</i> books seized

Two members of Allar Dal, an Islamist outfit, were arrested at Narsingdi town yesterday. Saiful Islam Ripon, 30, and Mohammad Hanif, 28, were arrested from the house of one Alam Miah at Hajipur Gayenpara of Sadar upazila. Police said Ripon hailed from Rahimanpur village under Thakurgaon district while Mohammad Hanif's house is at Mahmudpur village under Hairmara union of Raipura upazila in Narsingdi. Narsingdi Sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Jahangir Alam Bhuiyan told this correspondent that the arrestees are active members of a militant outfit. Jehadi books of the militant outfit were recovered from their possession, he said. During interrogation Ripon said their party's name is Allar Dal and it has 10,000 members throughout the country. He said party leader Matin Mehedi is now in Tangail jail. Besides, 40 more members of the organisation are now in different jails of the country. Ripon disclosed that they hired the house of Alam Miah at Hajipur about a month ago and started organisational activities. He said at least 27 members from Narsingdi district are now working for Allar Dal.
