Tk 303.5 cr Sylhet City Corporation budget

Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) has announced a Tk 303.44 crore budget for 2009-10 financial year. City Mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran yesterday afternoon announced the budget at a press conference in the presence of city councillors at the meeting room of the corporation building. The major heads of income shown in the budget include Tk 40.48 crore in holding tax, Tk 4.5 crore in property transfer tax, Tk 2.5 crore in building construction and reconstruction fee, Tk 3 crore in business and profession tax, Tk 2.8 crore in water bill, Tk 50 lakh from leasing bus terminals, Tk 25 lakh from leasing ferry ghats and Tk one crore from compensation for road cutting. The budget has shown an income of Tk 50 crore in government grant for ADP, Tk 50 crore for special projects, Tk 20 crore for construction of road and improvement of drainage system, Tk 10 crore in flood rehabilitation programme, Tk 15 crore for water supply project, Tk 15 crore for reclaiming natural streams and canals, Tk 10 crore for waste management, Tk 10 crore for construction of a new building of the city corporation, Tk 10 crore for procurement of equipment, Tk 10 crore for beautification and environment development programme, Tk 10 crore for construction of over bridge, Tk 9 crore for Bagbari Residential Project, Tk 7 crore for construction of truck terminal, Tk 5 crore for construction of walkway along the Surma river bank and Tk 3 crore for setting up a cattle market. The expenditure heads includes Tk 5 crore for health and sanitation programme, Tk 7 crore for establishment, Tk 2.85 crore for street lighting and others, Tk 4.13 crore for improvement of water supply system. The construction and reconstruction of roads, drains, culvert, bridge etc would cost Tk 30 crore and Laldighi Hawkers' Market improvement project Tk 2 crore.
