15 Shibir men held for attack on BCL leader

Police on Saturday night arrested 15 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir on charge of attacking and injuring a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in front of Satkhira Government College. Arrestees Abdus Salam, Azharul Islam, Saiful Islam, Amirul Islam, Sirajul Islam, Shariful Islam, Abu Bakkar, Akhtarul Islam, Habibur Rahman, Abu Isa, Sirajul Islam, Nazibul Bashar, Al-Amin and Sirajul Islam were produced before a court yesterday and the court sent them to jail. Police said, BCL leader Nazmul Huda Palash was attacked by a gang Saturday night while he was returning to college hostel from the party office. Palash was rushed to Sadar hospital and later shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, hospital sources said. Satkhira district BCL president Kazi Akhtar Hossain filed the case with Sadar police against the Shibir activists.
