Clash with SCC Staff

Buses in Sylhet city go off roads today

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet
Plying of buses in the Sylhet city came to a halt yesterday following sporadic clashes, chase and counter chase between the transport workers and the staff of city corporation in Bandarbazar area in the morning. The bus workers and owners associations later called for a daylong strike today protesting what they said 'attack' by Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) staff. Sources said, SCC staff Abdul Mannan had an altercation over fare with a town service bus staff when he was on way to the office. Soon after, the bus drivers and helpers blocked the road in front of the city corporation building. It sparked an hour-long clash in Bandarbazar area. Bus workers alleged the SCC staff beat up three of their fellows. Police rescued them from the city corporation building where they were beaten up, they said.
