Police arrested acting headmaster of a primary school on charge of molesting girl students of his school on Wednesday. The arrestee is Abdur Razzak, acting headmaster of Sanatanpur Government Primary School under Harinakundo upazila in Jhenidah. Razzak, hailing from nearby Bherakhali village, has been serving the institution for two years. He used to teach specially the girl students after the school hours on the plea that otherwise they will not obtain good marks in the examinations, locals and police said. On Wednesday Razzak called a class four student to a classroom after school hours and tried to violate her. Hearing her scream, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her. As the news spread, a good number of guardians gathered there and attacked the headmaster. On information, Sadar upazila nirbahi officer and officer-in-charge of local police station went to the spot and saved the headmaster from people's wrath. Later he was taken to Harinakundo Police Station. The victim's father Dud Mollik yesterday lodged a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act against the headmaster. The minor child and a few other girls told the correspondent that the headmaster often gave 'bad proposal' to them. Earlier he allegedly tried to molest a few girl students of classes four and five while teaching them, they said. Locals said, there are allegations that the headmaster often calls girl students at his office and makes indecent advances, SI Shahajan Ali of Harinakundo Police Station said. The accused was sent to jail yesterday.
